Case Study

The Selly Oak New Road was part of the highway works undertaken to enable access to the £500m Queen Elizabeth Super Hospital and Birmingham City Council awarded Birse Civils and its partners the contract to construct phase two in 2009.

On the 23rd of March 2010 Banagher Precast Concrete were awarded the contract to design, supply and deliver 103m of 5.6m wide x 1.92m high precast concrete box culvert.

Manufacture took place from May 2010 until July 2010, with delivery taking place from July 2010 until August 2010.

Selly Oak New Road Phase 2 won several awards at the Institution of Civil Engineers Awards night on 19th May 2011, namely the Innovation Award and Overall Winner, the Sustainability Award and Construction Award.
